Down under! And no worries!

After a 10h30 flight from London to Bangkok, a quick one hour stop ( that basically made us go through airport security and then a quick liquid/gel search by Australian customs before boarding the plane) and 9h flight from Bangkok to Sydney we finally made it. Unfortunatelly the weather is lousy! Not the summer day that expected at all.... It's very cloudy and it is raining. The only good aspect is the temperature and humidity are quite nice compared to Portugal!

First impressions of australians: very nice and helpful and always finish sentences with "no worries mate"

Right now I'm on a Murray's bus heading to Canberra and trying to set up thw Vodafone microsim card...

Waiting in Heathrow Terminal 3

The first (of three) part of our journey to the other side of the planet was succesfull, and now we only need to wait another 6 hours in the terminal. We decided to have lunch at Bridge restaurant, were I had a Christmas burguer (tasted like beef and not like reindeer though) and Filipa had a Wiltshire ham & mature Cheddar cheese (whatever mature means in a cheese) sandwich. The good surprise was the double expresso I ordered:

Although it was served in the giant cup it was very good. The brits are finally learning to brew expressos!
And now we are off to another exploration of Terminal 3 shops and I'll try avoid the electronics shops...

New travel blog

Greetings
this travel blog was initiated due to our upcoming trip to Australia scheduled to start a week from today. Me and Filipa will meet some friends of ours on the other side of the planet and decided to start this blog to document our trip there.
Armed with my faithfull iPad and Blogpress ap, and hopefully a 3G microSIM from an australian cellphone company we will be able to do a detailed description of our Australian experience.

The blog background image is the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall in Iceland that we visited last year in October, and is one of the most amazing waterfalls we have seen. It seems appropriate to use an waterfall as a metaphor to Around & Around.

Let's hope that we will be able to update this blog many times in years to come.
